The Summit Symphony has been performing classical music for the greater Summit area for over 50 years. One of its purposes is to provide an opportunity for young artists to perform a concerto or other major work with a symphony orchestra. Every other year the orchestra sponsors a Young Artist Competition which is open to all New Jersey high school students.
Auditions were held in January, and the following three winners were selected. Each will perform with the Summit Symphony at our concert on Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2008.
Ga-Yeon Lee, Violin ........................... Saint-Saens, Concerto #3
Hannah (Haeseung) Ji, Violin .... Tchaikovsky, Concerto in D Major
Allen Yueh, Piano ........... Tchaikovsky, Concerto #1 in Bb Minor
The next Young Artist Competition will take place in two years in January of 2010.
